Faraday-PPG Transmission Project

We seek input from area residents, community leaders, landowners and other stakeholders before we build a new transmission line. We will host public open houses in Macon County to facilitate this process.

We carefully consider the input we receive as we develop preliminary routes for the new transmission line. We pay special attention to siting sensitivities identified through the public meetings, as well as siting opportunities. We also consider such factors as cost and design.

A series of nine open houses was held September 30 - October 2, 2014, to have conversations with landowners, community leaders, and agencies to capture input, address questions, and identify proposed routes.

Additional open houses were scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, 2014, to review proposed routes prior to filing with the Illinois Commerce Commission.
Our goal was to develop a route for a new 138,000-volt transmission line. Four routes, two primary and two alternate routes, were filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). In order to identify route locations, we gather and review input from the public and agencies, and we collect publicly available engineering and environmental data.

Some of the routing criteria we review includes, but is not limited to the items listed below (not in order of importance):
Airports Agriculture Cemeteries
Conservation areas Daycares Recreational facilities
Schools Residences Engineering & construction considerations
Wetlands & streams   Cultural resources   Forest
We filed a petition with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), requesting their review and approval of the project. On June 16 the ICC issued a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) and approved a final route.
